Deputy Speaker of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide Mobile Parliament, Comr. Bob Collins Igetei has called on Interim Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dixion Dikio (Rtd) to urgently disengage Non Niger Delta Contractors in the amnesty office. The Liberator Newspapers can report.
Comr. Bob Collins made the call recently in Yenagoa while reacting to the level at which Non Niger Deltans are benefiting from the Amnesty office to the bewilderment of people that fought for the creation of the programme.
The deputy speaker alleged that if Non Indigenes of the Niger Delta region seems to be benefiting as contractors than Niger Deltans, it portends that the programme has been largely defeated to this extend.
Igetei said such alleged abnormality should be corrected, using the North as a reference point, stressing that the North-East commission which is established for the Northern people gives no room for others outside the region to get any contract. He wondered if non Niger-Deltans are benefiting more from the amnesty contracts, why call it Niger-Delta amnesty programme.
Moreso, he added that giving the jobs to Niger-Delta contractors will be a great empowerment and to a large way curb youth restiveness in the region.
He further called on all ex- agitators and stakeholders to speak with one voice and support the coordinator as the infighting contributes to a large extent the discrepancies in the commission and sister intervention agencies created to ameliorate the sufferings of the Niger Delta region.
The deputy speaker also used the medium to thank the amnesty coordinator ( Col. Dikkio Rtd) for his consultative meetings going on across niger-delta and urged him not to relent, for he is on track.
Finally, he advised youths of the Niger-Delta, especially Ijaws, not to be used by self-centered and self- acclaimed leaders to pull down fellow Niger-Deltans occupying offices in a way of meaningless protests.
