Niger Delta Ex-Agitator, Alaowei Ebi Ekpelagha from Diebiri/Batan Community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State has congratulated the grand commander of the present day Niger Delta and Ijaw struggle for emancipation, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly called Tompolo.
The Ex-Agitator also commended the Nigerian judiciary, particularly the Lagos High Court for the judgement, stressing that the judiciary is truly the last hope of the common man.
While expressing happiness on the court judgement, Ebi Ekpelagha noted that Justice Buba’s judgement will continue to remain as a land mark judgment in the country, noting that it really feel good to be happy.
Mr. Ebi Ekpelagha expressed his happiness to newsmen in Warri yesterday via a statement signed by him, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.
The statement while describing Tompolo as a pillar in Niger Delta and to the Ijaws in particular opined that the most dreaded former warlord is unbreakable as he will not indulge in any dubious practice.
While describing Tompolo as a sincere and pure man, Ekpelagha noted that Ekpemupolo has always been a man of peace as making peace with him will amount to so many gains between the Federal Government and other regions in the country.
Ekpelagha stated that right from the beginning of Tompolo’s incarceration, the Ijaws, Niger Deltans and good spirited Nigerians knew that he is innocent, adding that there are lots of calls from people of the region crying and calling for his freedom.
However, In his ruling on Wednesday, Mr Buba upheld the defendants’ no-case submission, saying the prosecution “failed to establish a prima facie case” against Tompolo and others.
He dismissed the entire charges and set them free.
The Liberator Newspaper can report that following the court judgement on Wednesday in Lagos, there had been massive jubilation across Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta region on Tompolo’s freedom.
