There seem to be tension brewing in Oil rich Odidi and its federated communities in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State over alleged expiration of community executives.
According to a statement issued to newsmen in Warri yesterday, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers, signed by Engr. Chief William A. Mamamu
,Elder Kulele Umukoro, Elder Johnson Febinafa, Mr. Sammy Duwobowei and Engr. Ayowei Akori, the statement alleged that the Chief Johnny Aribogha led administration expired on the 24th of November 2020, adding that following the expiration, there was the need to conduct or select new people for the leadership of the community.
The statement reads “On the 24th November, 2020. Chief Johnny Aribogha led administration expired and was dissolved in a general meeting at chief Dr S. Y. Mamamu resident, Okumagba Avenue Warri.
“After the dissolution of chief Johnny Aribogha led administration, the meeting became rowdy when chief Johnny Aribogha wanted to use few elders to announce his second tenure with military intimidation but chief Dr S. Y. Mamamu in his wisdom cancelled the announcement and the meeting was closed by him without re-electing anybody or group of people to lead the town.
“We were so shocked when Chief Johnny Aribogha fraudulently announced himself as Chairman with use of chief Dr S. Y. Mamamu stamp provided by one of his son without the knowledge of his father chief Dr S. Y. Mamamu. We therefore call on the general public, Npdc/Neconde JV and its subsidiaries to disregard such community leadership.
“That any document used by chief Dr S. Y. Mamamu stamp is fraudulently manipulated by Engr. James Meneko, Mr. Gilbert Deribi, Mr. Andrew Atunu, and others.
“Nomination has not been made by any family constituting Odidi community which is the usual practice in constituting a new community leadership in the town. ”
Meanwhile, in our bid to get a balance reportage on the matter, on his part, Chief Johnny Aribogha had countered allegations that he manipulated his way back to being chairman of Odidi and its federated communities in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
He said the Delta State Government, general public, Npdc/Neconde JV and its subsidiaries as well as all concerned authorities should completely ignore such allegations, describing it as baseless as he remains Chairman of the community.
He said his re-emergence as Chairman of the community and his new executive members followed due process as they were duly nominated and carefully selected by the elders council whom he described as the apex ruling organ in Community, stressing that their selection was done on the 25th of November 2020 with their supreme leader, Chief Dr. S.Y Mamamu and other members of the council of the elders council ratifying the new administration for another four years.
