Zamfara Gold: We Should Urgently Call For Niger Delta Conference To Address Our Issues  – Amb Tomone

By Binebai Princewill

His Excellency, Amb. (Dr) Apst. Godspower Tomone has called on critical stakeholders of the Niger Delta region to urgently call for a conference of Niger Deltans to address the multifaceted woes of the region.

He noted that if Niger Delta and other regions can’t benefit in anyway from the gold in Zamfara State, then there is every reason for Niger Deltans to meet urgently in order to exclusively control their oil resources via the projected conference.

The Niger Delta revered leader who hails from Oil rich Ogulagha Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, a critical stakeholder in Forcados Terminal, a facility described as one of the economic backbone of the nation made the remark earlier today in Warri via a statement issued to newsmen, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers.

Amb. Tomone while expressing his displeasure on latest remarks from the Zamfara State Government and others in the North noted that activities regarding the gold issues have pointed that Nigeria as a country is becoming a joke.

He said calling for the Niger Delta conference is imperative as it will enable all youth groups, elders, women, traditional institutions/council of chiefs, Niger Delta business tycoons, activists, community leaders and others to properly x-ray the existence of Niger Deltans in the Nigerian State.

However, Dr. Tomone stressed that Niger Deltans must be united in speaking one voice to control her resources, adding that people of the region are not slaves to other regions and the country at large.

In his words: “If Zamfara can control her oil, Niger Deltans must and will also control her oil and other natural resources, enough is truly enough, we can no longer keep quiet in the face of such glaring intimidation “.

Meanwhile, Tomone had charged all Niger Deltans to wake up from their slumber as the time to demand for her rights is now or never, this he said must be done via the convocation of a Niger Delta Conference to take a decision once and for all.
