The Niger Delta youth leader made the plea earlier today via a statement issued to newsmen in Warri, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper while reacting to the birth anniversary of Tompolo whom he described as the generalissimo of the Niger Delta struggle for liberation.

Speaking further, Binebai had also called on the Ijaw nation to henceforth celebrate Tompolo in their various kingdoms in his birthday as a Niger Delta living legend.

He particularly stressed that the likes of Tompolo and few others should be immortalised while alive, adding that such gesture will make such heroes happier and could make them contribute more for the advancement of Ijaw nation and Niger Delta in general.

The youth leader noted that people like Tompolo are celebrated more than this in other tribes and other parts of the World.

“Tompolo is a man of peace, he has impacted many lives positively, he has sacrificed a lot including his personal happiness for the general good of the region.

“He is not a corrupt man as enemies would want to paint him, he has proven his leadership to every Ijaw communities and beyond in Nigeria, he has fought and visibly brought development to some parts of the region, such a man can’t be a bad person as strange quarters claim.

“Making peace with Tompolo will be for the betterment of the country”. Amb. Binebai suggested.
