Leading Niger Delta group, the Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) on Wednesday tasked all Governors in the Niger Delta region to do well by aggressively and massively addressing the age long issue of development in their various states.

The group noted that such call has become necessary owing to the state of things in the region, stressing that such development must be seen to be taking place ahead of 2023.

Niger Delta Youth Council made the call via a statement personally signed by Amb. Comr. Mamamu Bene Youkore, popularly known as young chief, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

However, Amb. Mamamu Bene Youkore noted that Niger Deltans cannot continue to blame the federal government of Nigeria all the times without looking at what the Niger Delta State Governors are doing with the resources accruing to them over the years.

The statement continued that the state Governors must use their remaining days in office as Governors to maintain peace, aggressively develop their states as well as fixing all problems in their various states ahead of 2023.

Mamamu noted that if funds coming from the federal government as monthly allocations, internal generated revenue, 13% and other sources of revenue are used properly to develop the states by the Governors over the years, the Niger Delta region would have been so developed and would be a place where normal human beings can live.

Nevertheless, the statement continued that the level of anger among youths in the region shows that the Governors have not done well in carrying youths along as it should be, stressing that such must be done for everything to go smoothly during the 2023 general elections to avoid the perceived anger of the youths.

Speaking further, the group had tasked all Niger Delta Governors to put their house in order to speak in one voice, adding that their unity is important for the growth and development of the region.
