ONDO: Youth Leader Raises Alarm Over Strange Killings, Looming Crises Between Ijaw, Illajes

An Ijaw youth leader in Onto State, Comr. Abednigo Samuel Opere who is the treasurer of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Western Zone have raised alarm over alleged strange killing of Ijaws of Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo state.
Comr. Abednigo Samuel Opere raised the alarm via a statement he signed and made available to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide earlier today.
Abednigo alleged that , October 2nd 2022, one Mr. Bekewei Alonge, an indigene of Akpata community in Arogbo Kingdom, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo state who was on a business trip to Awoye community an Illaje settlement in Illaje local government area of Ondo state to sell firewood was allegedly killed.
Opere noted that Bekewei Alonge was allegedly killed by Illaje indigenes by tieing him up before throwing him into the river for him to die by drowning.
According to Opere, few days later, an Arogbo lady who was plying the route saw the dead body of Alonge floating along the river with how he was tied, he continued that she got scared and when she got to Arogbo to tell her people, before they could get there, the corpse of Alonge has disappeared without any trace till this moment.
Recalling a similar situation, Opere alleged that one Ege Fine, a woman from Opuba community in Arogbo Kingdom was also murdered mysteriously by the Illajes, stressing that her dead body was found floating along the same Illaje area while her canoe was found in another location.
Comr. Abednigo asserted that a closer examination of the deceased Fine Ege revealed that she was sranggled to death by her murderers as there were marks on her neck.
Meanwhile, Opere had called on His Excellency, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to call his deputy Governor who is an Illaje son to call his people to order before things will get out of hand.
