A group operating under the auspices of Independent Grassroot Liberators (IGL) on Friday staged a massive protest at Ogbe-Ijoh community, headquarters of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report

The massive crowd that had gathered yesterday in their numbers at Ogbe-Ijoh wielding placards with different inscriptions had warned His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 Vice Presidential candidate and other political parties in the state not to visit Ogbe-Ijoh to campaign.

Addressing the press on behalf of the group  during the protest at Ogbe-Ijoh yesterday, Amb. Comr. Bene Youkore Mamamu, President of the Independent Grassroot Liberators (IGL) had noted that there is no need for any political party to come to Ogbe-Ijoh for political campaigns.

According to him, the group that is mostly dominated by youths of Ogbe-Ijoh have always preached peace and will always stand for peace, stressing that they have to take the decision to stop any political campaign in the community because they have not done enough in ending the Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja reincarnating crises.

In lashing out on the Governor of Delta State, Amb. Comr. Mamamu Bene Youkore who is also the President of Niger Delta Youth Council yesterday pointed out that Governor Okowa as the Chief Security Officer of the state has not done well in managing the communal crises, stressing that despite the fact that the crises have claimed  many lives, the Governor appears not to be bothered about the whole thing.

Speaking further, Amb. Mamamu Bene Youkore, popularly known as young Chief had explained that the message from the Independent Grassroot Liberators is that there can’t be campaign or even election in a war zone.

In his words: “Our position here is that from now till 2023, if the Delta State Government cannot put to an end permanently the lingering crises rocking Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja communities, they should forget about any political campaign.

“How can you come to a war prone area to campaign without first ensuring peace. You are not interested in profaring lasting solution to the crises but you are interested in campaigning for the people that are dying.

“Who are you going to campaign for, are you going there to mock the people, what will you be telling them?. A lot of them have lost their children and loved ones in the communal clash from both sides yet the Government remains adamant. ” Mamamu stated.

Nevertheless, the youth leader had warned that the decision reached by the youths for political parties not to visit Ogbe-Ijoh to campaign without permanently putting an end to the crises and restoring peace should not be taken for granted or be seen as a mere threat as the group mean every word it says.

Meanwhile, Mamamu said if politicians can be united to organise political campaigns to sell their candidates, he wondered what could have stopped them from being united in ending the lingering crises
