2023: Dekawei Endorses Omo-Agege For Delta 2023 Governorship, Appeal For NMU Bill
President general of the Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement (DIYMPA), Amb. John Dekawei have endorsed His Excellency, the deputy Senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, the Obarisi of Urhobo land, All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta State Governorship flag bearer ahead of the 2023 Governorship election in the state. Amb. John Dekawei made the endorsement yesterday in Abuja after a crucial emergency meeting with Ijaw youths comprising those in diaspora and others from different Ijaw communities in Delta State that had massively attended the meeting.
While superintending over the crucial emergency meeting held yesterday in Abuja, Dekawei and members of the Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement (DIYMPA) have all hammered on the need to support Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege for the Delta 2023 Governorship, stressing that the Ijaws in Delta have no political future with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Addressing the press shortly after the emergency meeting at Abuja, Dekawei had on behalf of the group noted that they will stand by the endorsement, stressing that the group will be coming out massively to muster support for Omo-Agege as their preferred Delta 2023 Governorship candidate.
The young leader asserted that their support for Omo-Agege was due to the fact that he has performed well as a senator representing Delta Central, adding that within a short period he rose to become the deputy Senate president of the Senate and has influenced projects to Delta Central that also benefit the entire Delta State.
He continued that if Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege has brought so much Development to Delta Central and Delta State at large as a senator, they maintained that people should stop attaching sentiments but to rather work for Omo-Agege for the proper development of Delta State.
Speaking further, Amb. John said the level of development in Ijaw areas when compared to their economic and political viability is not commensurable.
The youth leader had particularly appealed to His Excellency, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege to use his good office in passing the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Bill into law, stressing that the Ijaws will forever be grateful to him.
Nevertheless, Amb. John noted that not having a law backing the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State is not a good thing, adding that if the deputy Senate president can make this happen for the Ijaws, posterity will always judge him right.
Meanwhile, the revered Niger Delta philanthropist had tasked sons and daughters of Ijaw in Delta State to quickly key into the Omo-Agege’s project of becoming the next Governor of Delta State come 2023, stressing that the Ijaws needs to play wide politics and not to be trapped in one political party even when nothing positive is coming out of it.
