2023: Purported Zoning In Delta, A PDP Affair, Not APC – Odumalagba
Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, Amb. Dr. Anthony Ebitonmo Alapala, popularly known as Odumalagba have stated that purported zoning in Delta State is purely a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) arrangement and not for his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC). Dr. Alapala made the remark on Sunday over the weekend at the Chief Tunde Smooth Playground, NPA in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State in an interview with newsmen during the music album launch of Chief Kingsley Takemebo.
While speaking on the Delta 2023 Governorship race, Alapala said that while the PDP has been embroiled in which senatorial district is to produce the next Governor of the state, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state has their own arrangement.
He noted that as an APC man, his first priority is to ensure that his party emerges victorious come 2023 and beyond, adding that he is optimistic that the APC will take over Delta State as Governor of the state.
According to him, as an Ijaw man, he will also want an Ijaw man to be Governor of Delta State but asserted that he will gladly support an Ijaw man if he or she wins the party ticket from the APC, adding that his support for the Delta State Governor come 2023 will be purely based on party arrangement.
When asked on the issue of Ijaw agenda, Alapala said while the Agenda is a good one, he stated that the Ijaw agenda can only yield positive result if those fronting the matter is sincere and fair to all Ijaws by listening and considering the interests of the Ijaw Youths and other critical stakeholders by accommodating everyone, maintaining that the said Ijaw agenda must not be seen as a sectional thing.
Speaking further, Amb. Alapala had admonished his supporters in Delta State, particularly Burutu Local Government Area to be calm, assuring them that he has truly found a new home where soon enough their woes will be fixed.
However, the United Nations Peace Ambassador had vowed that PDP in Delta State and Burutu Local Government Area will see a strong political battle come 2023, adding that “only the end shall justify the means,” stressing that the APC is gathering momentum by the day.
In his words: “Come 2023, APC in Delta State will shock people, there is going to be a political paradigm shift, i can foresee and feel it”.
It would be recalled that Amb. Dr. Anthony Ebitonmo Alapala had being in the PDP since its creation but decamped to the APC recently describing his decamp as long overdue, noting that his days in the PDP has been wasteful.
The Liberator Newspapers learnt that Alapala had contested PDP Chairman of Burutu Local Government and also contested the Burutu North House of Assembly PDP Primary in the last political dispensation.
