The Ward 11 Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has stated that the issue of zoning political offices in Delta State and Burutu Local Government Council remains a strange subject to them.

This was contained in a statement jointly  signed by Chairman of the Ward 11 PDP Caucus, Amb. Chief Evans E. Etimigba (JP) and Sir Humphrey Oluku, Secretary, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide yesterday.

The statement had particularly maintained that the Ward 11 PDP Caucus felt it has become necessary for them to speak their mind on the matter, adding that there has never been any case of zoning political offices in Delta State and Burutu Local Government Area apart from the Burutu North and South, Delta State House of Assembly arrangement.

They noted that while the records are there for anyone to confirm, the statement lauded political leaders in Burutu Local Government Area that have spoken against the issue of zoning, stressing that,  such  is truly the right thing to do at the moment.

However, the duo of Etimigba and Oluku stated that people should not heatup the polity unnecessarily as all the political arrangements in the Local Government and the state are good to go.

They particularly called on the people of Burutu Local Government Area to consider competence when it comes to electing political office holders in the Local Government and not to give it a ward or kingdom coloration, noting that nothing is out of place politically for now.

Nevertheless, the caucus noted that Ward 11 has contributed economically, socially and politically towards the growth and development of the PDP, Burutu Local Government, Delta State and Nigeria as a whole over the years.

The statement further asserted that Ward 11 in Burutu Local Government Council has contributed so much in feeding the nation, Delta State and Burutu Local Government, stressing that whatever benefit they may be having politically for now is not even commensurate compared to what they have contributed to the coffers of the nation.

Meanwhile, Ward 11 Caucus have thrown their weight behind Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, House of Representatives in his re-election bid, stressing that he has represented the constituency very well and there is need to consolidate on that.

They stated that they are very proud of him owing to the fact that he has done what is really expected of a lawmaker, adding that he has represented the people well by raising motions, sponsoring bills and have defended his people like never before with his supersonic voice in the house.

They continued that beyond performing his legislative functions, he has done well in performing his oversight functions by influencing political appointments of sons and daughters of the Local Government, facilitating projects across the Local Government and many more.

Speaking further, the statement appreciated the good people of Burutu Local Government for believing in Pondi, stressing that free, fair and credible primaries devoid of undoing anyone should be the key word.

“Let us give Hon. Pondi another chance to represent us in the Federal House of Representatives as he has done well in serving us, there is need to consolidate on the progress he has made so far”. The statement added.

Nevertheless, the Caucus threw their weight heavily behind the Ijaw Governorship agenda in 2023, adding that Delta State is a multi ethnic State that should be conscious of that fact in all political arrangements.

In their words: “The State has the Urhobos, Aniomas, Ndokwas, Ijaws, Isokos, Itsekiris and Ikas. The Urhobos in Delta Central have had their take on the Governorship, so has the Itsekiris in Delta South and now the Ikas in Delta North. None of these groups have produced Governor without the active and near total support of the Ijaws. This time, the Ijaws need the reciprocal support of the other ethnic groups to produce the governor of the state come 2023” .

furthermore, the caucus added that the Ijaws have capable and competent persons to man the Osadebe House and should therefore be supported to produce the next Governor of the State as the Ijaws have been doing for others.
