Dekawei Backs IYC, Urges Tinubu To Appoint Ijaw From Delta As Minister

A renowned Niger Delta Youth Leader, Amb. John Dekawei has thrown his weight behind the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC ) Worldwide by urging His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu to urgently appoint an Ijaw son from Delta as minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria serve in his cabinet.
Amb. John Dekawei, one of the Niger Delta most celebrated philanthropist made the call in Warri yesterday via a statement he personally signed, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.
However, Amb. John Dekawei noted that the Ijaws in Delta State from the Delta South Senatorial District suffered a lot in ensuring that they mobilised votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Speaking further, he noted that the Ijaws can’t be treated as second fiddle even after contributing towards the growth and development of the country politically and economically.
It would be recalled that John Dekawei is one of the first Ijaw son from the Niger Delta region to have openly endorsed the Tinubu Presidency, using national newspapers and television stations.
Nevertheless, Dekawei had particularly charged President Bola Tinubu to be fair to the Ijaw people, stressing that the Ijaws as the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria should be treated fairly where equity and justice should be done to them.
“President Bola Tinubu must have a rethink and nominate an Ijaw son from Delta as minister.
“A lot of Ijaw people suffered various humiliation in their bid to work for Tinubu, people cannot just forget things so easily like that. The Ijaws must be rewarded.
“There are many credible Ijaw sons and daughters that can be appointed as Minister to represent Delta State, we must not play politics to the detriment of the Ijaws”.
