As the Governorships and state House of Assemblies elections gradually draws nearer in Edo and Ondo States, the Niger Delta Youths Council (NDYC) has charged Youths in both states not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs.

The remark was made yesterday via a press statement jointly signed by the duo of Amb. Comr. Mamamu Bene Youkore, popularly known as Young Chief, President of the Niger Delta Youths Council and his secretary, Comr. Shadrach Ebikeme Onitsha, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

However, the duo had noted that it has become a reoccurring decimal that youths across the country have been used by politicians as thugs during Presidential, Governorship, National Assembly, State Houses of Assembly and Local Government Councils elections and what have you.

They maintained that youths must make frantic efforts in changing this narrative, stressing that it is sad that the youths of Nigeria and Niger Delta are only relevant during elections, stressing that after elections, reasonable things hardly comes to the Youths.

The statement had charged Youths of Niger Delta to prepare themselves to contest such elections going forward, adding that the destiny of Nigeria and the various states now rest on the shoulders of the youths.

Nevertheless, the duo had also tasked youths of Edo and Ondo States to get their PVCs ready to exercise their franchise in voting for candidates of their choice without any form of intimidation from any quarter.

Meanwhile, the duo of Amb. Mamamu Bene Youkore and Comr. Onitsha Ebikeme Shadrach asserted that youths have been used by politicians for too long, stressing that it is now time for the youths to fight for their survival by taking their destinies into their own hands.
