40th Anniversary: Ogulagha Secondary Old Students Consult Braboke, Lament State Of Things – The Liberator

Students under the leadership of Ogulagha Secondary School Old Students Association, OSSOSA yesterday consulted Hon. Stanley Braboke, immediate past commisioner for Trade and Business Development, Bayelsa State consulted and presented pressing needs of the once booming secondary school in Ogulagha kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

While tabling the issues before the former Bayelsa State commissioner, national president of the Ogulagha Secondary School Old Students Association, OSSOSA, Pst. Idowu Seimode appreciated Hon. Braboke for the audience, noting that the school is in dire need of desks and other learning materials.

It would be recalled that the courtesy visit was paid to Hon. Braboke yesterday by the national leadership of OSSOSA, headed by its president, Pst. Seimode at the Warri residence of the Bayelsa State PDP stalwart.

Highlighting the issues bedeviling the 1980 born secondary school in Ogulagha kingdom, Pst. Seimode noted that beside the urgent need for desks, learning materials, he maintained that the school needs proper fencing, this according to him will prevent encroachment among community members and other things were discussed.

He also harped on the dwindling standard of education in the school, adding that there are no enough teachers as the secondary school is understaffed.

Seimode particularly noted that by October 2020, the Ogulagha Secondary School will be 40 years old, adding that plans are on top gear to celebrate its 40th anniversary as the assistance of Hon. Braboke, a former student of the school will be appreciated.

“God have a reason for raising you to this level in the society, we are happy that we have you, you shall continue to soar high and higher, we are very proud of you”. Pst. Idowu charges Braboke.

In his swift response, Hon. Braboke while thanking the leadership of OSSOSA for paying him a courtesy visit, appreciated them for the formation of the body.

He declared that he is excited because the Ogulagha Secondary School plays a great role in his academic foundation, adding that as a former student of the school, he will do anything within his power to ensure that the school becomes one of the best in the entire Niger Delta region.
“It is not easy to carry out this humanitarian activity that you people are doing now. As you are fighting for the good of our people, God shall empower you people not to lack anything. Don’t also be discouraged, we are behind you.
“Whenever you need my attention, don’t hesitate to inform and come to me, I am always available for you.
“By his grace we shall make it a grand celebration, I would want to see how we could commision a project on the Ogulagha secondary school 40th anniversary celebration” Hon. Stanley Braboke stated.
Hon. Stanley had also used the forum to appreciate God for elevating him to the rank of a commissioner during the last admiration of the Dickson Seriake led administration of Bayelsa State.
He said he is thankful to God for finishing strong without any error while discharging his duties to the people of Bayelsa State, adding that lots of political upheavals in the state, maintaining that God made him to stand firm till the final whistle which eventually brought victory to the PDP.
Meanwhile, earlier Seimode had hinted that there are plans to relocate the Ogulagha Secondary School to the ultra modern school built by the Delta State Government.
It would be recalled that the Ogulagha Secondary School has produced lots of leaders in the society, some of which include His Excellency, Amb. Shedrack Lucky Agediga, currently serving as the Executive Director, ED, Planning, Research and Statistics, PRS, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC with the host of very many others too numerous to mention.
The national president was accompanied by other members of his executive as the visit later turned out to be an enjoyment galore.
