Abandoned Ayakoromo Bridge: Group Begs Tompolo For Intervention – The Liberator

Niger Delta group, known as Concerned Citizens For lzon-ebe Development (CCFID), has appealed to foremost Niger Delta freedom fighter, High Chief Government Emkpemupolo, alias Tompolo to intervene on the slow pace of work at Ayakoromo bridge project in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State over the past five years.

Speaking to the press on behalf of the group at Ayakoromo during the weekend, the President of the group, Comrade Oyinbi Onduku noted that Ayakoromo bridge is lacking government attention and commitment due to ineffective representation of some elected political office holders in the Local Government Area.
The group also commended the kind gesture of the ljaw leader who has brought peace and unity to ljaw Youth Council, IYC that was under the influence of divide and rule system over the past three years due to some contending issues bothering the council.
He stressed that negligence to duty by elected and political appointees at various levels lacks the political will to tell the government the barriers facing the epileptic state of work at the project.
“It will interest you to note that, Ayakoromo bridge project was awarded since 2014 by the immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan with the vision to open up riverine communities in terms of road network and urbanization. But unfortunately, the project is not progressing as expected due to poor representation and lack of political will on the side of the Delta State Government.
“It is my humble appeal to our selfless ljaw leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo to please use your influence and political connections to help draw the attention of the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa in order to show more commitment towards speedy completion of the bridge within the shortest possible time” Comr. Onduku stated.
However, Oyinbi maintained that the Ayakoromo bridge when completed, will increase the economy of the state, ease transportation of goods and services, as well as fast track road network to Burutu town, headquarters of the Local Government Area, oil Ogulagha kingdom, Odimodi, Forcados among other riverine communities in the state.
