Akpodubakaye urges Okowa to look beyond total lockdown in Delta State – The Liberator

Hon. Jude Gbaboyor Akpodubakaye, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to look beyond his total lockdown directive in the state by putting in place palliative
measures for all those living in the state.
Hon. Jude, former aspirant of the Delta State House of Assembly in Warri South West Local Government Area made the observation yesterday via a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen in Warri, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.
Akpodubakaye noted that majority of Deltans are not in the state Government pay role or civil servants, explaining that the Government should put up measures to cushion the effect since people won’t be going out to fend for themselves owing to the total lockdown directive that will commence on the 1st of April 2020.
He maintained that it is nice to put up measures to curtail the virus but advocated that such must be done with meticulous planning in a way that the masses don’t suffer much in the process.
The young entrepreneur urged Governor Okowa to come up with plans he has for Deltans as palliative measures during the said lockdown in the state.
In his words: “If people are going out to work before they can eat, when you shutdown and people no longer go out to fend for themselves and paraventure the Government did not provide anything for them, what do you think that will happen to such people. We must not always forget the fact that not everyone is rich in the state, so when making such decision that effect’s everyone, we must consider everyone. ” Jude Stated.
Akpodubakaye painted another gloomy picture that if proper steps are not taken, crime rate may increase.
Speaking further, Hon. Jude asserted that the 14 days total lockdown in the state will gravely affect the agricultural sector as those feeding their fishes in the various ponds won’t be able to go out to feed the fishes which according to him may lead to their massive deaths after the expiration of the 14 days.
He said even those planting different crops won’t be left out in facing the perceived looming effect of the 14 days shutdown.
Meanwhile, he has tasked the Delta State Governor to as a matter of urgency take consideration from the foregoing postulations.
He also admonished the Govermor to put more energy in purchasing health facilities in ensuring that the health centers can deal with the virus like Lagos state should it occur.
