The Senior special adviser to the Delta State governor on peace building and security, Comr. Daniel Ezekiel has called for calm among the warring Alaja and Ogbe- Ijoh communities in Warri South West and Udu Local government Areas of Delta State.

The SSA through a press release on Wednesday condemned the communal clash and sympathises with the family of Taylor Agofugha who was allegedly killed by hoodlooms who invaded Ogbe Ijoh community recently.

The two communities were recently immersed in renewed hostility that caused serious tension and breach of peace and as well led to the death of one person.

Comr. Ezekiel who described the killing as an act of criminality noted that the government can not condone it.

He said ”It is very unfortunate ,killing someone in his own house is a criminal act, especially the person involves is not a belligerent. Those hiding under communal war to perpetrate crime have over step their boundary as no criminal can hold the state to ransom.”

”We condemn the act in strong terms as the security agents have been asked to fish out the perpetrators as we do not want to give it a communal war coloration as not to escalate the already tense situation. I advice my fellow youths in Ogbe-Ijoh community to stop any retaliatory move as the government and security agents are on top of the matter.”

”The government of Delta State is sad about this ugly incident as we sympathize with the bereaved family. I want our youths to sheath their swords and embrace peace. We shouldn’t celebrating Killing of fellow youths. The holy Bible warns that he that kills by sword ,will die by sword, remember! ”

While assuring that the state government under the leadership of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa is doing everything within its reach to resolve the endless crisis bedevilling the aforementioned communities, regretted that ”several resolutions have been made to halt further war but it suffered implementation due to lack of cooperation by the leadership of the various communities.”

”I equally appeal with my fellow Aladja community youths to tow the part of peace, as no development will strived in a situation of rancor. Let’s embrace the fact that we are inter-married and built inseparable bonds over the years. So we should learn to resolve of our differences in a roundtable talks and stop further killings of one another.” He advised.
