APC chieftain lauds judiciary over Kalu’s acquittal, demands apology

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), from Abia state, Mazi Emmanuel Uche, has congratulated the Nigerian Senate Chief Whip and former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on his resounding victory at the federal High court in Abuja.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) had filed a suit to retry the Abia North senator over alleged money laundering case against Senator Kalu.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of Federal High Court, Abuja, while delivering judgement, on Wednesday, prohibited the nation’s anti-graft commission from retrying the ex-governor.

According to Ekwo, “An order is hereby made prohibiting the Federal Government through the EFCC from retrying the applicant (Kalu) on charge no. FHC/ABJ/CR/56/2007, since there was no order in the judgment of the Supreme Court for the retrial of Kalu”.

Reacting, the Party Stalwart, in a interview with journalists, in Umuahia, Mazi Uche, lauded the judiciary for demonstrated as last hope of a common man.

He said that the acquittal of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of corruption charges as falsifyly preferred against by the EFCC will further strengthened him to continue with his laudable services in providing dividends of democracy to the people of Abia North senatorial district and the state as a whole.

Mazi Uche noted that the then administration of Senator Kalu as Abia Governor, raised the bar in economic and Infrastructural development of the state, opining that the trumped-up charges as quashed out by the court, was politically motivated aimed at victimizing the APC leader by disgruntled political foes.

The former APC Chairmanship Candidate, called on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, to tender unreserved apology to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu within 24 hours for his unlawful and inhuman incarceration.

According to him, “the anti corruption commission should apologize to Senator Kalu for subjecting him to ill-treatment on basis of the cooked up allegations that does not exist anywhere since the latter’s sojourn to the politics of the nation.

Mazi Uche, who used the medium to urge the people of Abia North senatorial district to continue with their sustainable and unrelenting support to the Senator and the All Progressive Congress in order to witness more and abundant developmental strides being attracted by the former governor.
