The Niger Delta APC Youth Vanguard, APC-YV, hailed President Muhammadu Buhari, over appointment of Arch Sunny Echono, as the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund.

This was contained in a congratulatory message signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade FIAWEI PATHFINDER at the group National leadership meeting held in Abuja, where the group described Echono as a game changer who has all it takes to transform the tertiary institutions across the country based on his wealth of experience and knowledge in the education sector.


According to the group, Buhari’s wisdom in carefully appointing Arch Sunny Echono was the best thing that has happened to the Nation tertiary institutions off wish with Echono appointment the higher institution of learning in terms of infrastructure and human capacity development.


The statement reads in part, “The leadership of Niger Delta APC Youth Vanguard, APC-YV, who are core believers and supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari -led Federal Government that is made up of ex-agitators and stakeholders with progressive like minds use this medium to hail President Muhammadu Buhari, for his wisdom in appointing Arc Sunny Echono as Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, a professional and experienced technocrat who understands the academia, especially, the higher institutions of learning. 


“We know the pedigree and high sense of patriotism he has over the years, and his impact right from the time he was appointed Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, until he was transferred to the Federal Ministry of Education as Permanent Secretary, there was tremendous impact and footprints he left behind as legacies speaks more volume due to his pragmatic and proactive manner of going about his duties in serving this country selflessly and transparently with a clean track record. 


“He is a man of honour and achievement, and also a game changer wherever he was taken to work because of his professional way of handling financial, human and material resources based on his prudence and tact.


“We strongly believe that the tertiary institutions in the country would experience a drastic change in no distant as he has already hit the ground running.


“This we commend him and also for his humility displayed in his speech after he took over the helms of affair at TETFund as he said he would consolidate on what his predecessors had done and achieved. 


“We deem it fit to join Nigerians and other notable professionals in the education sector and academicians to congratulate Arch Sunny Echono, for this highly celebrated and well deserved appointment.

“Not too long he came in he has started performing without delay as he has started acting and implementing what Mr. President approved as guidelines of the Year 2022 intervention budget, which the monies have been set aside for each university, polytechnic and college of Education.”

The group also commended the swift action by the TETFund boss on allocating funds to TETFund Center of Excellence.

The group applaud him and his team for giving further impetus to TETFund Scholarship for Academic Staff (TSAS), which recently TETFund signed an MOU with the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and a consortium of nearly 40 Universities.

“The swift moves by Echono is highly commendable as we have seen in MoU signings and keeping TETFund projects and programmes going in the right direction for the benefit of Nigerians.

“We also learnt that at a media interaction, he disclosed that a negotiation of a Memorandum of Understanding is at an advanced stage with an Institute in France that would massively benefit Nigerian institutions and the nation at large.

“And we want to assure the TETFund Executive Secretary, which you can rely on us as stakeholders in President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration that we will give you all the necessary support you need to enable you succeed as you serve Nigeria and Nigerians under this office.


“We also call on Nigerians home and in the Diaspora to support Echono to achieve maximally the development of the educational sector”, it added.
