The People of Oil rich Okerenkoko and its federated community have appreciated His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, his deputy, Barr. (Dcn) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro and the entire Delta State Executive Council for approving the construction and reticulation of a major water scheme in Okerenkoko, Warri South West Local government Area. 

This was contained in a statement  signed and issued to newsmen in Warri earlier today by the duo of Hon. Shedrack Otuaro, Chairman of Okerenkoko Federated Community and  Amb. John Dekawei, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the oil bearing community, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

The statement had particularly lauded the Governor for listening to the cries and yearnings of the people, stressing that the water scheme when completed will address the age long issue of the non availability of a drinkable water in the community. 

Speaking further on the development, the duo while thanking the Governor for the approval had tasked Okowa to urgently mobilise the contractor to site in order to commence work on the project. 


They noted that when completed, the people of Okerenkoko will be grateful to the Governor for addressing one of the pressing need of the community, adding that their note of appreciation will be incomplete without mentioning their father, leader and son Barr. (Dcn) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State for influencing such project to the community, maintaining that the Water Scheme will be of great help to students of the Nigeria Maritime University in Okerenkoko who had over the years grappled with the challenge of the non availability of not having a portable drinkable water in the community while schooling there.

It would be recalled that Amb. John Dekawei, A renowned Niger Delta social crusader with zero tolerance to bad governance had through The Liberator Newspaper on April 24 2021 called on the attention of the Delta State Governor to provide portable drinkable water for Delta Ijaw riverine communities, expressing satisfaction that the Governor have indeed listened to his call.

The statement maintained that  the people of Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have a lot of reasons to appreciate the Governor, stressing that first he choosed their son and leader, Barr. (Dcn) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro to be his deputy. 

However, they continued that it is under Okowa that Okerenkoko is having an internal concrete road and other things that he has done for the community. 


Meanwhile, the duo of Hon.  Shedrack Otuaro and Amb. John also stated that it is under the watch of Okowa as Governor of the state that Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor and Dr. Paul Bebenimibo are now in the Delta state House of Assembly representing Warri South West and Commissioner Representing Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC ).

Nevertheless, the people of Okerenkoko Community is appreciating the Governor following the approval of a water scheme from the State Executive Council meeting yesterday at Asaba, presided over by the Governor. 

In the words of Charles Aniagwu, Delta State Commissioner for Information shortly after the exco meeting “As part of efforts to provide portable water and reduce communicable diseases, the state government had approved the construction and reticulation of a major water scheme in Okerenkoko in Warri South West Local government Area.”
