Bayelsa Commissioner, Braboke Condoles With Binebai Family Over Death Of Patriarch

Bayelsa State Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Hon. (Engr) Stanley Braboke and his massive entourage visited late Chief Tom Michael Binebai’s family on Saturday at his residence in Ughoton, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State to condole with the bereaved family. 

Speaking passionately on the personality of Chief T. M Binebai (JP) who was a pioneer commissioner that represented the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC ), Hon. Braboke said Binebai was a father to all.

However, the Bayelsa State commissioner while enjoining Chief T. M Binebai’s family to take heart revealed that late Chief Binebai was his headmaster back then at Ekpebiwei primary school in Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. 

Speaking further, Engr. Stanley had prayed to the Lord Almighty to raise someone in the family to fill the huge vacuum created by Chief T. M Binebai owing to his demise, stressing that he was a great Ijaw leader even though he was not deeply involved in the politics of Ijaw National Congress (INC).

Meanwhile, Braboke expressed his readiness to be involved in the burial process of Chief T. M Binebai, adding that he will surely contribute his quota in ensuring that the late chief is given a befitting burial. 

Braboke said Chief T. M Binebai becoming DESOPADEC commissioner to represent the Ijaw ethnic nationality is a recent matter, adding that he has done so many important things for the Ijaw nation before DESOPADEC. 

In his words: “DESOPADEC is just now, Binebai was a great Ijaw leader, an epitome of wisdom, he has impacted on people, we know him, Tobu-okun movement, he is my leader and father. I have come to condole with the Binebai family.  

“I am part of you, i will be part of the burial process. We know that it is painful. Let us take heart. I cannot seat down in my house hence i have come to identify with the family. He was my headmaster. Binebai and Braboke families  shares a special bond. He has left a huge vacuum, let the Lord Almighty raise someone to fill the vacuum.

“Ijaw nation have truly lost a great hero. We will forever miss him”.


High point of the visit was the signing of the condolence register by the honourable commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Bayelsa State, Hon. (Engr) Stanley Braboke.
