Bayelsa Commissioner, Braboke Sympathises With Mamamu’s Family, Says Ijaws Have Lost An Icon

The commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Bayelsa State, Hon. Stanley Braboke has sympathized with the family of Mamamu over the demise of their father and son, late Chief Dr. S. Y Mamamu.

This was contained in a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen in Yenagoa yesterday, the capital of Bayelsa State, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide. 

The revered Bayelsa State commissioner stated that while he is sympathizing with the Mamamu’s family, he said his condolence also goes to the good people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom and the entire people of Ijaw nation, stressing that Ijaws have truly lost an icon.

The Commissioner while narrating his encounter with late Chief Mamamu stated that he consulted him for proper direction and guardian in 1994 to 1996 under the Ijaw National Youth Movement (INYM) that later metamorphosed to what is today known as Ijaw Youth Council (IYC).

Hon. Braboke further asserted that he also consulted late Chief Dr. S.Y Mamamu during the days of Izon-Ebe Oil Producing Communities Forum in 2004 to 2007 where he served as Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the group.

He continued that consulting the late Chief back then exposed him to a lot of  things in leadership, stressing that the late chief was a man full of knowledge and unprecedented wisdom, adding that he was a man with many positive colours.

However, Braboke said Chief Mamamu is leaving the World at a time the entire Ijaw nation needed him the most, stressing that he is leaving when the Ijaw National Congress has been resuscitated. 

“I received the news of his death with so much sadness, Ijaw nation have lost a fine brain, may the Lord Almighty grant the family and the entire people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom the fortitude to bear this great loss.” Braboke stated.
