A leading contender for the Bayelsa State gubernatorial primary under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Amb. Dr. Boladei Igali has vowed to transform the state into a modern 21st century state with the basic infrastructures should he become the next governor of the state.

The former secretary to Bayelsa state government under Goodluck Jonathan gave the revelation during an exclusive interview with newsmen in Yenagoa on Friday.
Amb. Igali maintained that he has the capacity to lead the state haven undertaken various political and peace building assignments at the international, national and local levels.
He said if he emerge victorious at the primaries and subsequently elected as governor of Bayelsa State, he will focus on Agriculture, Education, Health Care, Security , Sports, Power Supply as well as civil service reform and Housing.
While giving details of strategies he will explore to achieve the set goals, Igali had particularly maintained that he will boost Agriculture in the state by putting structures in place for the benefit of fish farmers, stressing that fishing abodes will be built to enhance fish farming in the state.
On Education, the former SSG said he will ensure the immediate implementation of free meal programme for primary school pupils, regular payment of bursary and free education for girls in the sciences will form his education policies.
He insisted that priority will be given to training and retraining of teachers in the state, adding that special renumeration packages will be made available for teachers in the riverine areas.
Another area according to him, that will be given priority is Housing, he said that his tenure will witness unprecedented turn-around in housing, ”Mortgage system will be fully operational” he assured.
On Civil service reform, the diplomat had assured that civil servants in the state will be well serviced under him, as issues of non payment of gratuity and pension will be looked into critically.
He had also revealed that Sports, Regional integration and Heath insurance schemes and other areas will be prioritized under his administration should be become the governor.
Reacting to the numerous agitations currently rocking the country, Dr. Igali had alleged that the desecration of the 1960 constitution by those that never meant well for the country marks the beginning of the many woes of the counrty.
Dr. Igali had noted that the breakage of the covenant earlier entered by Nigeria’s founding fathers gives the minorities reasons to worry and be agitated.
Speaking on the features of the 1960 constitution, Godknows Igali had stated that the constitution was a robust one that should have really taken care of the problems and fears of all Nigerians, revealing that it provides for true federalism and many other interesting features that would have kept Nigeria more united.
”The festering agitations rocking the country now is due to the fact that the spirit behind the constitution was breached, broken and rubished, hence the need to stay together as one family was no longer there.”
He had asserted that for Nigeria to move forward as a country, the foundation of the country must be revisited and restructured to accommodate the views of all ethnic groups in the country.
Speaking on his early life, Igali had revealed that he was a twin, born in Oporoma, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State under certain circumstance
in 1960. Amb. Igali possesses an intimidating credentials and leadership potentials that may see him be the favoured one at the fast approaching PDP Primary in the state.
It is on record that Amb. Igali has worked with five former presidents in the country, including all who ruled the country since return to democracy in 1999, which includes IBB, Obasanjo, Yar’adua, Jonathan and president Buhari.

Meanwhile, the Dr. Boladei had particularly appealed to delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Bayelsa State to see his ambition as one that will truly move Bayelsa State forward, stressing that he has the right contacts, exposure and intellectual capacity to transform Bayelsa to a modern 21st century state where all lovers of progress will be proud of.

The Liberator Newspaper can report that Dr. Igali can speak Spanish, German, French, English and other dialects in Nigeria.

As at the time of filling this report, a total of 21 aspirants have obtained PDP nomination forms ahead of the September gubernatorial primary in the state.
