Following counter and cross counter reactions trailing the alleged brutalization of Comr. James Etimadimene, youth President of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom by Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Commissioner representing Ijaw Ethnic Nationality on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and the subsequent 7 days ultimatum issued by our revered Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone, the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC) have pleaded with all parties involved to give room for dialogue and maintain calmness.
The Delta Ijaw Comrade Community made the call earlier today via a statement personally signed by the President general of the Comrade Community, Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.
According to him, the call have become necessary as the group cannot seat back and watch Ijaws fighting among themselves for something that can easily be resolved.
Binebai asserted that the future of Ijaw nation will be gloomy without the youths hence leaders in Ijaw nation must and should do well by encouraging the youths in their own little way.
Speaking further, the President general of DICC had pleaded with both the Ijaw youths, the leadership of DESOPADEC and our Ijaw commissioner to create room for dialogue in order to quench this seeming raging fire brewing among us, adding that a lot has been written on social media platforms already hence the need to ceasefire.
In his words: “We are all a people from same family, we must try to accommodate each other’s interest the best way that we can, let us not fight ourselves, as Ijaw people, we are already grappling with multifaceted problems rocking us as a people in the Nigerian state and even here in Delta State.
“We must not also forget that our disunity is the unity of others, our troubles makes others happy and keep them at peace. Let us dialogue among ourselves and lay this matter to rest
“The Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC) also used this medium to call on Ijaw political leaders and other critical stakeholders to wade into the matter now”
