A Niger Delta sociocultural group under the aegis of Big Brothers Club of Agge, popularly known as Toru- Ibe state has appealed to the Govermor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri not to politicise the Agge Deep Seaport project.

The Big Brothers Club of Agge made the appeal recently at Agge in Kou Kingdom, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State during an interview with The Liberator Newspaper on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of Okibou Zion.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Egbons Andabai, Chairman of the group hinted our reporter that the Agge Deep Seaport project has lingered for too long, stressing that actualizing the project during Diri’s administration will make sense.

Hon. Egbons Andabai, Chairman of the club was flanked by Comr. Ebikeseiye Odibo, secretary of BBCA, alias the Youth Pere of Itorogidi Kingdom.

Others include Great Akpos Idolobo, Yankee Iyame as well as Stanley Tomone, critical stakeholders of the Big Brothers Club of Agge in Bayelsa State.

Egbons Andabai continued that the Agge Deep Seaport project if completed will generate lots of employment opportunities for Bayelsans as it will also boost the internal generated revenue of the state.

He said such an important project should not be swept under the carpet and be treated with kids gloves like the way it is now, he therefore challenged the state Governor to make frantic efforts to actualize the project.

The Big Brothers Club had decried the fact that up till now, there is no sign that the project is ongoing or about to start.

Speaking further on the matter, the Toru-Ibe State creation advocates had warned that the Agge Deep Seaport project must not be used as a political tool to hoodwink the gullible people into doing their biddings at all times in Bayelsa State, stressing that from the Dickson’s administration to the era of Governor Douye Diri is enough time for any serious  Government to leave an hallmark of the project.

They frowned that after many years of talking about the approval of the Deep Seaport project at Agge in Kou Kingdom, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, the reality on ground is that nothing tangible has been done as the project is only existing in theory and in the lips of politicians, not in practical terms.

However, Andabai, Odibo, Idolobo, Iyame and Tomone had called on the Governor to make a difference in his administration by not towing the path of his predecessor Dickson who was allegedly only good at the pronouncement of the Agge Deep Seaport project without anything tangible to show for it in his eight (8) years tenure as Governor of Bayelsa State.

Meanwhile, the Agge group stated that their journey in the Niger Delta struggle for emancipation will be incomplete without the mention of an Ijaw music luminary, Chief Joseph Ekeremieye whom they described as a man that promoted them musically in his own way, stressing that they will continue to be grateful to him.

Nevertheless, there are moves and indications that the Big Brothers Club of Agge may metamorphosed to Big Brothers Club of Niger Delta.
