Binebai: Okowa Condoles With Family, Promise To Make His Burial A State Affair

The Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on Friday condoled with the family of Chief Tom Michael Binebai (JP), the Olotu of Iduwini Delta and Miyenkirigbolomowei of Iduwini Bayelsa over his demise. 

The Governor who was represented by His Excellency, Barr. (Dcn) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State had while condolling with the Binebai family promised to play critical role whenever the family consummate plans for the final burial rites of the late Ijaw legend. 

The deputy Governor of Delta State while speaking on the personality of Chief T. M Binebai (JP) described the late Iduwini born icon as a man that truly served Ijaw nation, Oborotu, Iduwini Kingdom and Delta State at large, stressing that he is going to be missed greatly.

However, Otuaro who is also a frontline aspirant for the Delta State 2023 Governorship race had admonished the Binebai family to take heart, adding that he has left behind solid and memorable legacies that will continue to speak volume about him even in death. 

He particularly prayed to the Lord Almighty to grant the Oborotu people, Iduwini and the Binebai family to bear the great loss.

In his words: “His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi  Okowa is aware that i am here,  i am here in his stead, and am here to condole with the people of Oborotu in Iduwini Kingdom and his immediate family. 

“Late Chief T. M Binebai as a former commissioner of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has served Delta State at large, whenever the family and kingdom consummate plans for his final burial rites. The State should be duely put on the know.”

High point of the visit was the signing of condolence register by the deputy Governor after having few words to specially console the wives of late Chief T. Binebai.Reacting to the deputy Governor’s condolence visit on behalf of the Binebai family, Comr. Frederick Christmas who is the duweinanawei had hinted The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide that the family appreciated the visit of the deputy Governor, stressing that the family is short of words to have seen the Governor of Delta State coming to condole with them.  While recalling some of the activities of Chief T. M Binebai in his days, Christmas described the late chief as a symbol of unity and one who always defended Ijaw nation, adding that Binebai was a champion of good governance.

Mr. Frederick had particularly prayed to the Lord Almighty to always reward the deputy Governor in whatever he desires in life, stressing that the family will continue to owe Otuaro in high esteem.

Personalities  that were present to receive the deputy Governor include Chief Kenneth Donye, the Bolouwei of Iduwini Kingdom, Delta State, Sir Ziakegha Ignatius, Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State on Niger Delta Affairs (Braced Commission), Chief Amb.  Evans Etimigba (JP), the fungewei of Iduwini Kingdom, Delta State, Chief Austin Enekorogha (JP), the fiyewei of Iduwini Kingdom, Delta State, Comr. Frederick Christmas who is the (Duwoenanawei), Barr. David Otutufegha, Mr. Akpobuloukaemi Julius,  Leader Presley Bebra, Mr. Forcados Kingsley, Chairman of Ofougbene Community, Comr. Napoleon Kenerekedi, Hon. Tubotu Nathan, SA attached to the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Andy Preboye, Comr. Pondy Ebipadewei Stainless, former Chairman of Burutu Community, Comr. The Binebai family members on ground were Mss Martina Binebai, Mr. Sunny Binebai, Erick Binebai, Sonia Binebai, Ajolly Binebai,Mr. Kelly Elaweremi,  Mr. Kings Binebai, Amb. Comr. Binebai Yerin Princewill, Paul Binebai, Desmond Binebai, Eniye Binebai and others. 

Others present during the deputy Governor’s visit include Priest Ellington Bakumor, SA to the Governor of Delta State on political matters, Comrades Magada Jude, Dubasuode Selekowei Reuben, Comr. John Gbozimor and other too numerous to mention. 

The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report that until Chief T. M Binebai’s death, he was aged 94 and the oldest man in Oborotu comprising Burutu, Yeye, Forcados, Ofougbene and other satellite communities of the Oborotu people. 

Since his demise, prominent individuals and various groups have continued to show solidarity to the Binebai family by condolling with them in various ways.
