The 5th Mobile Parliament under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Bob Collins Igetei met yesterday on Saturday the 20th of July 2022 at Imiringi Community Town Hall in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Central Zone to X-ray the activities of council under the leadership of Dcn. Comr. Peter Timothy Igbifa so far, two years after the inauguration of the National Executive Council of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC).

According to Rt. Hon. Bob Collins Igetei, Speaker of the 5th Mobile Parliament of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide who briefed The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide after the marathon parliamentary seating, the parliament have unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on the entire National Executive Council (NEC) led by President Igbifa.

It would be recalled that the 5th Mobile Parliament of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) under the command of Rt. Hon. Bob Collins Igetei had invited President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Dcn. Comr. Peter Timothy Igbifa through the Secretary of council, Rt. Hon. Frank Pukon in a letter dated 14th of July 2022 for questioning over varrying degrees of allegations regarding the state of council.

Some of the reasons for the invitation of the President contained in the said letter include Subvention coming from Bayelsa State Government to council, Two years in office, why has there not been any expanded executive meeting, National Convention or National Congress ?, Near collapse of council  and the plans of insecurity challenges by herdsmen and intruders in Ijaw Nation.

However, the President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Dcn. Comr. Peter Timothy Igbifa was unable to show up for the seating but rather a letter was sent to the parliament that he could not appear on that particular day as he was busy with some other engagements of council.

It was learnt that the President also inaugurated a security committee to tackle insecurity challenges looming in Ijaw nation, a committee that was also rejected by parliament and NEC officials that attended the seating.

Some of the National Executive Council Members that attended the seating include Rt. Hon. Frank Pukon, Secretary of council, Comr. Ebilade Ekerefe, Spokesman of council, Barr. Obiri Ebilade, legal adviser as well as the national treasurer of council.

Meanwhile, shortly after passing of the vote of no confidence on the NEC, a committee was set up to investigate the President and the entire NEC and has been charged to report back to the house within two  weeks for further legislative  action.

Speaking further, Igetei explained that parliament is rejecting the said inauguration of security committee set up by President Igbifa on the ground that he did not consult critical stakeholders of council and other members of NEC before coming up with such an important committee, stressing that council has gone beyond a level where only one man will unilaterally set up a security committee for the entire Ijaw Nation.

Nevertheless, all efforts geard towards reaching out to the President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Comr. Peter Timothy Igbifa proves abortive as his number was not reachable to hear his own side of the story.
