According to reports reaching the news desk of The Liberator Newspaper, massive protests are alleged to have been rocking OML 42 flowstations in Delta State

, particularly in Warri South West Local Government Area.

This was made known to our reporter via a caller who is among the protest but would not want his name to be mentioned in print.
According to the source, the communities and her indigenes are protesting over series of lingering and unresolved issues between host communities, contractors and companies handling the oil facility, NPDC/NECONDE JV.
The source maintained that they will not rest nor sleep until the Odidi, Jones Creek and Batan Flow Stations are all shutdown in to drag their attention for immediate payment of contractors, workers and other entitlements of the host communities.
However, the source continued that there is heavy military presence in the flow stations as they could not gain entrance to shutdown the said flowstations owing to the stiff resistance from the fierce looking military men.
He further alleged that the protesters had finally gained entrance to the Odidi flowstation as it is now shutdown while others are mounting pressure on the other flowstations, stressing that the situation

has not been easy.

In his words: “Now Odidi Flow station is shutdown after stiff engagement with AMT site and Military. Batan and Jones Creek Flow stations Shutdown process ongoing.”
Explaining more on the reasons why the host communities, indigenes and contractors are protesting, the source said: “We are protesting for the following reasons and we will continue with it until our demands are met quickly, our reasons are, Non payment of Workers, Non payment of Community Benefits agreed in FTO,
Non payment of Community Contractors, Use of JTF headquarters at Bayelsa to intimidate Community Leaders because of their refusal to sign GMoU, Lack of Corporate Social Responsibility, Rejection of Community MoU proposal as well as
Using Community Protest to pay their internal Contract”.
Meanwhile, in our bid to hear from NPDC/NECONDE JV for a balance reportage, a high ranking official from the company who would not want his name to be mentioned in print admitted that protest is actually ongoing.
He stated that the protesters are yet to shutdown any flow Station in OML 42, stressing that the company authorities have been working seriously even before now to address the various issues.
He maintained that the Odidi flowstation that is currently down was not because of the protest but attributed it to technical failure, stressing that the company had already assured them that they will receive their payments next week.
He however, admonished the protesters to be patient and calm till next week.
