BREAKING: Ogbe-Ijoh Youths Storm Government House Asaba, Demands Ijaw Ward In Warri South

Ijaw youths in Ogbe-Ijoh and its surrounding communities in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State have reportedly stormed Government House, Asaba, the state capital to demand urgent creation of new ward for the Ijaws in the Local Government. The Liberator Newspapers can report. 

The angry Ijaw youths noted that Warri belongs to the Ijaws, Itsekiris and Urhobos, adding that the political enslavement of the Ijaws must be rejected by all means necessary. 

The youths particularly called on His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State to urgently address the situation before it degenerates into what could be difficult to control.

They vowed that the protest will continue in different forms until justice is done to the people of Ogbe-ijoh in Warri South by creating a ward to house them in the Local Government. 

Some of the placards brandished by the protesting youths reads “Warri is owned by three ethnic groups, give us our ward, Governor Okowa, you know the right thing to do, give us our ward, Governor Okowa, stop marginalizing the Ijaws in Warri South, give us our ward, Governor Okowa, we demand justice and fairness in Warri South, give us our ward, the Ijaws in Warri will not tolerate any intimidation, give us our ward “.

It would be recalled that as at the time of filling this report, the protest was still ongoing at the Delta State House.
