Military intervening as NPDC/NECONDE says matter will be looked into

According to reports reaching the news desk of The Liberator Newspaper indicates that the Odidi Flow Station in Delta, Warri South West Local Government Area of the state is witnessing massive protest by workers of the NPDC/NECONDE joint venture.

The workers who noted that the protest is ongoing at the flow station in Odidi community may likely see shutdown of the flowstation in OML 42.
Confirming the protest, an aggrieved prostester who wished not to be mentioned in print intimated The Liberator Newspaper noted that the protest is necessitated by several reasons ranging from hunger, unpaid salaries and other incentives among other reasons.
However, the undisclosed source said as workers of the NPDC/NECONDE joint venture, they are tired of hunger and starvation amidst the coronavirus lockdown in the state, stressing that the company refuse to provide food for them nor the payment of their salaries as they are stocked in the facility without their welfare.
In his words: “We are shutting down the Odidi flow station now for so many reasons, for the past weeks, we have been through a lot , no salary, no company official has come to address us, we can’t continue to suffer like this. We no that after the flow station might have been shutdown, they will come out from wherever they to address us, the negligence is too much, we don’t have any other option than this”.
Nevertheless, there are also reports that the military is intervening on the matter by talking to the protesters and preventing them from gaining entrance into the flow station.
The Liberator Newspaper learnt that the determined protesters have taken a new dimension by going round wellheads to lock them to enable the flare go down.
As at the time of filling this report, it is still uncertain if the flow station has gone down or not but the protest is still ongoing with a livelihood of shutting down the flow station.
Meanwhile, when contacted a high ranking official in the NPDC/NECONDE Joint Venture who pleaded not to be mentioned in print confirmed that he got an intelligence that workers are protesting.
He pleaded with the workers to still exercise little patience as the food contractor for the supplies is finding it difficult owing to coronavirus and the lockdown order cum closure of states borders.
He however, maintained that the matter has been reported to management as management is already aware of the matter, stressing that he believes that the issue will be looked into as soon as possible.
