Nigeria’s Apex court, the Supreme court has quashed the criminal conviction of former Abia state governor and serving senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

The court on Friday in a unanimous decision by a five justices panel headed by justice Amina Augie held that the Federal high court that convicted Kalu lacked jurisdiction to do so.

They held that the trial judge, Mohammed Liman was no longer a judge of the Federal high court as at the time he sat and delivered judgement that convicted the senator.
Liman had convicted Kalu, his firm slok Nigeria Limited and former Director of Finance in Abia State Jones Udeogu for allegedly steal about 7.1 billion from Abia State treasury
