BREAKING: Tension As Ijaws Rejects Creation Of New Ward For Itsekiris In Warri South

There is palpable tension as Ijaws in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State , particularly the people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom took to the streets to protest against the creation of new ward for the Itsekiris in the Local Government Area against their interest.
The protesters brandishing several placards with different inscriptions began to march from Olabrakopre community in Ogbe-Ijoh, particularly the main market axis down to the Warri South Secretariat.
While the protest has been peaceful, the well coordinated protest has several women, different Ijaw group leaders like Meinbutu and its federating units including youths of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.
In their various demands, the protesters have called on His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State Independent Commission (DSIEC) chairman to immediately reverse their move to ensure that the ward is created solely for the Ijaws in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
They warned that there will be no peace until the ward is created to accommodate the Ijaws in Warri South, stressing that the move is a political marginalization taken too far, vowing that they will resist it with the last drop of their blood.
The Liberator Newspapers can report that as at the time of filling this report, the protesting is still ongoing.
