BREAKING: United Nations Honours Agediga With Global Peace Ambassador Award In Warri

In recognition of his penchant pursuance of peace around the World, the United Nations, UN POLAC honoured one of Niger Delta born finest peace advocate, Amb. Comr. Shedrack Agediga, Executive Director, ED, Planning, Research and Statistics, PRS, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC with a World Peace Ambassador Award.
The revered international body presented the highly coveted award to the mulitple award winning Niger Deltan at the Fonsecas hotel at Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State yesterday.
Presenting the award to Amb. Agediga, Amb. Jerry Abiri, UN Nominee superintendent on behalf of UN POLAC noted that the many years of selfless services in preaching peace around the World earned Shedrack the very rare award, stressing that the renowned world organization is proud to identify with him.
They noted that henceforth, the PRS DESOPADEC Executive Director should be addressed as His Excellency, Amb. Shedrack Agediga owing to the Global Peace Ambassador Award given to him by the United Nations, UN POLAC.
Amb. Abiri stated that the award for Agediga was earlier scheduled on the 14th of December 2019, stressing that due to the tight schedules of the Global Peace Advocate, it was shifted to yesterday.
The UN Nominee Superintendent, Jerry specifically noted that the UN POLAC World Peace Ambassador Award is only given to people with proven track records, adding that Agediga is truly one of such personage.
Speaking further, Amb. Abiri maintained that UN POLAC is an initiative of former United Nations, UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan to preach peace around the World established in 1998 but noted that it was set up in Nigeria during former President, Olusegun Obasanjo’ s regime.
However, Abiri while revealing on the importance of the award noted that the UN POLAC award given to Amb. Agediga is a category A nominee, describing it as the highest level of award in the commision.
He continued that UN POLAC is happy for the investiture of Agediga as one of his highly rated Ambassador, stressing that they are working speedily to ensure that they hoist the UN flag in his residence, an event he said is not common to witness in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, in a sharp reaction, Agediga appreciated officials of UN POLAC for finding him worthy for the international award, stressing that he dedicates it to the Lord Almighty and all lovers of peace in the World, stressing that he will continue to promote peace in his domain and the World at large.
Others that made the UN delegation for the award presentation to Agediga include Amb. Mrs Ebi Briggs as well as Mr. Hillary Ikediarhe.
The event was well attended by prominent chiefs and political leaders from Ogulagha kingdom and other leaders within the Niger Delta region as well as DESOPADEC staffs.
High point of the event was the decoration of Agediga by Amb. Jerry Abiri on behalf of UN POLAC Worldwide with UN POLAC crested Facecap, Identity Card, Medal, Jacket, award, certificate of appointment, emblem as well as other materials of the organisation.
It would be recalled that UN POLAC means United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Center.
