The Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State Hon. Godknows Angele may be in another round of trouble following  alleged misappropriation of over N2.1 billion  belonging to the council.

Vocal Ijaw right group, the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative (IPDI) on Monday through a press  releases  signed by it’s Board of Trusty chairman Comr. Cletus Itari and made available to newsmen in Warri, a copy of which was obtained by The Liberator Newspaper alleged that Hon. Angele must give account of how he spend the said amount.

The group has also threatened  to drag Angele to court over the allegations if he fails to offer solid  explanations on how funds belonging to the council were spent under his administration.

They noted  that the people of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State are  interested to know how their money were spent, and the projects for which  the funds were spent should  be made public.

The group said that  it is regrettable that despite the huge amount of money that came into the coffers of the LGA in 2018, 2019 and now, Angele could not embark on any people oriented project in any of the communities in the council area.

The group disclosed that Burutu LGA got # 2,159,937,833.52 naira allocations from the Federal government in 2018 and that the money was misappropriated as there was no commensurable development in the LGA.

They told Angele to without further delay, account for all the monies he had received from the Federal allocation for the period of his three years in office if he should not be dragged to court and be petitioned to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti graft agencies in the country.

They  disclosed that nothing is happening in Burutu LGA in terms  of infrastructural and human capital development because Angele has refused to spend the funds accrued to the LGA for the purpose it is meant for.

Thay have also resolved to petition the Governor of the State His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for him to be aware of the level of hardship that Angele has subjected  the people to, as a result of his unabated misappropriation  of funds meant to take care of the people.

The group urged Burutu people to rise from their slumber and demand for explanation into how their money was spent in the LGA as to stop successful chairmen in the council from misappropriating funds meant to develop the LGA.
