The Chief Executive Officer of Centre for  Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) and  the Ibe-serimowei (Kingdom Promoter) of the Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in  Delta State, Chief Sheriff Mulade has applauded Wednesday’s Federal high court judgement that set aside charges bordering on fraud slammed on the Niger Delta freedom fighter High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

Mulade, through a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday  shortly after the rulling, noted that Tomopolo did so much to attract  peace and development in the Niger Delta region despite the political persecution he went through.

He described the judgement of the court as good news coming at the appropriate time and victory for the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta Region at large.

The Ibe Serimowei said that it was the effort of Tompolo that brought the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, as well as other mega projects that has made life meaniful for the entire Niger Delta area.

While commending Tompolo for his steadfastness and doggedness in negotiating and  securing a better life for the Niger Delta people, he urged him to sustain the struggle for the emancipation and development of the region, adopting a non-violence approach.

He also congratulated  former Director General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Patrick Akpoboloukemi and others for the clean bill of health given to them by the court.

A Lagos Federal High Court on Wednesday quashed all 40 count charge brought before it by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC against Tompolo and others for lacking in merit.
