Commissioner Amgbaduba Gets Vote Of Confidence As Delta State Gov’t Resolves Umusadege, Western Oil rift – The Liberator

After weeks of rift between Midwestern Oil and gas and their host comnunity Umusadege in Ndokwa West Local government area of Delta State, peace have finally returned following Delta State government’s intervention.

The reconciliation meeting was attended by top government functionies as well as representatives from the community and the oil company and was presided over by the Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba on Thursday.

Major issues deliberated at the meeting include death of two indigenes of the community who were security personnel attached to Midwestern Oil and Gas, Ltd, endorsement of Memorandum of Understanding MoU, employment of Umusadege indigenes in Midwestern amongst other grievances.

After hearing from both sides and due considerations of issues raised by the community, the commissioner sued for peace and urged both parties to maintain cordial relationship.

At the end, it was resolved that befitting burial be given to the two slain indigenes of the community by Midwestern oil and should also initiate scholarship schemes for the children of the deceased.

It was also resolved that the company should empower wives of the late staffs economically through skill acquisition or starting up a business, while two Umusadege sons be considered as replacements for the deceased.

The commissioner also directed that a date be taken immediately to commence the process for a memorandum of understanding.

Spokesperson for the community who spoke after the resolutions were reached thanked the commissioner for the sincere manner with which the commissioner haddled the matter and apologised for all unguarded utrances earlier made against his person and office.

The Community leadership through their spokesperson passed a vote of confidence on the commissioner for his matured and sincere handling of the crisis apologised for utterances earlier made against his person and office.

Also present at the meeting were Ifeanyi Egweyanga, Commissioner for Youth Development, Member representing Ndokwa West, Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Charles Emetulu, Special Adviser on Petroleum Matters, Hon. Ernest Ogwezzy, the Executive Assistant on Youth Development, Nnamdi Ezechi, Permanent secretary, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Mrs Gladys Puegeren.

Others include, the Group Managjng Director of Midwestern oil and gas ltd. MD of Midwestern, Umusadege Community chiefs, community Elders and Youth leaders as well as others too numerous to mention.
