According to reports reaching the news desk of The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide, counter and cross counter claims have continued to rock the Amnesty office over allegations of contempt of court for allegedly disobeying a court judgement.

A source  has informed The Liberator Newspaper  that two Generals who has taken the amnesty office and the coordinator to court over what it described as a fraudulent allocation of slots belonging to their camp in which the federal high court in Yenagoa in suit no FHC/YNG/CS/63/2019 gave a consent judgement has remained unimplemented.

The two generals had waited patiently for the office to pay the accumulated sum but to no avail hence it has instructed its lawyer to file processes for contempt against col Dikio .

Counsel to the plaintiffs Bar Richard has confirmed that the judgement was given on the 10th of November, 2020 and the office is yet to comply with the order which includes payment of the accumulated sum and restoration of the chances.

Our source confirmed that it is the inability of courts to sit as a result of the strike action which has hampered the process to be filed by counsel to the plaintiffs.

We are further informed that Gen Ramsey who is one of the plaintiffs in the action has frowned on the actions of the office as it has become very difficult to manage his delegates who are affected in the case as a result of the non payment of some of its members who are ex-agitators has destroyed the home of the lawyer Bar Richard Turner . They expressed their frustrations on him saying that he has compromised with the office to frustrate their payment.

“It is believed that the process will be filed soon enough to persuade the court to use its coercive powers to hold the Amnesty coordinator Col Dikio for contempt in refusing to honour the courts judgement”.

Meanwhile, in a contrary reaction, a source in the Amnesty office who was contacted by our reporter in a bid to have a balanced report on the matter who would not want his name to be mentioned in print had dismissed the allegation, stressing that the said generals did not take Dikio to court but rather Prof. Charles Dokubo.

He explained that the Ex-agitators actually took Dokubo to court for which a judgment was delivered and that it was an issue that was inherited by Dikio from his predecessor.

The source asserted that while Dikio made moves for the payment of the said generals in view of implementing the court judgment, it was dawn  on the Amnesty office that it does not have the powers to pay such money considering the huge amount of money involved and that the office will write to the Attorney general of the Federation for approval before such payment can be effected.

When asked on how far the office has gone on the matter, our source said the office has since written to the Attorney general and that they are waiting for approval from him, stressing that as soon as it is approved, the office can commence payment.

Nevertheless, the source had warned Ijaws not to fight their sons and daughters that are occupying leadership positions but should rather support them with productive ideas, adding that the Amnesty office, Niger Delta ministry and the NDDC are not the only offices in Nigeria,

“Ijaws must repent and desist from this pull him down syndrum” The source stated.
