Dagogo: Wike, Too Infinitesimal To Dare Ijaw Nation, He Should Be Tamed  – DICC

By Ndu Samuel, Asaba

President general of a leading Niger Delta Sociocultural group under the aegis of Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC), Amb. Binebai Yerin Princrweill has stated that His Excellency, Barr. Ezenwo Wike, Governor of Rivers state is too infinitesimal as a person or whoever he thinks he is  to dare the entire Ijaw nation. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill made the assertion while reacting to a video circulating on the media wherein the Rivers State Governor Wike was seen saying the Ijaw National Congress and its  younger wing, the Ijaw Youth Council cannot give him and his government ultimatum to release Hon. Farah Dagogo, saying “thunder fire you and your ultimatum”.

President of the Comrade Community had recommended that this is the perfect time for the entire Ijaw nation to come together and teach Governor Wike of Rivers state some lessons via peaceful protest and using all available means to urgently release Hon. Farah Dagogo, “it is high time to tame the erratic and irresponsible behaviour of Wike.”

Binebai particularly made it clear to Nigerians and all responsible people around the world that Wike has not done anything for Ijaw nation rather it is Ijaw nation that has made him who he is as Governor of Rivers state via the goodwill of  His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former President of Nigeria, an illustrious son of Ijaw nation,  after making him a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during his reign as President.

Amb. Princewill continued that perhaps Wike is forgetting that the entire Rivers state was created to pacify the Ijaw people and their struggle for justice and resource control in the Nigerian state  and very few others that supported during this period.

“Late Major General Jaspa Adaka Boro declared the Niger Delta republic in February 23rd 1966, 12 days later, the revolution was foiled by federal superior fire power; the unity of Nigeria was not negotiable. Boro and all his commanders were jailed and condemned to death for treason by General Johnson Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi (From the Igbo extraction) military administration. But fate favored them and General Yakubu Gowon’s government freed them and created Rivers State in May 27th 1967 and Lieutenant Commander Diete Spiff, an an Ijaw son, was made the first military governor. It was dream come true, the revolution had failed and yet succeeded.

“Again another Ijaw son, Melford Obiene Okilo became the first elected Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria (1979–1983). I begin to wonder on where were Wike in all of these struggles for the creation of Rivers state, other institutions in Nigeria and Niger Delta, why didn’t his name appear.

“Before Wike is dreaming to become President of Nigeria, an Ijaw son has occupied the office, before he becomes the Governor of Rivers, the Ijaws provided the platform and has occupied the office and even built the Government house with which he is talking from.

“1 Corinthians 10: 12 ‘So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.’ This is a warning from the holy bible to whoever that think that he or she is God.

“This is not the first time that Wike is insulting the Ijaw people, first was the public insult rained  on our Ijaw revered traditional ruler in Rivers state, he later insulted the Ijaws during the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) protest that the Ijaws are not the only tribe in Niger Delta, and now the INC and IYC. He has crossed the lines of being a supposed grateful fellow. “

Meanwhile, Princewill had called on the INC and IYC to be more action oriented than issuing statements without follow up or action.

In his words; “If our statements will only end up without action or follow  even if there is a defaulter, I suggest that there should be no need for such statements for people not to see us as people with empty threats “.
