Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on security to the Delta State Governor, Comr. Daniel Ezekiel has described the death of Joseph Pessu who was allegedly killed by a soldier recently while witnessing the Delta State day one (1) of lockdown in Warri as unfortunate.
The superlative SSA had also called on Deltans to support the Government by adhering to the stay at home order and admonished Deltans to give peace a chance.
Comr. Daniel Ezekiel made the admonition yesterday via a press statement issued to newsmen in Warri, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.
The SSA maintained that at a time like this, Deltans and indeed Nigerians have a common enemy known as the global pandemic called Covid-19, alias coronavirus.
He explained that Deltans must unite and join forces with the Government and security agencies to fight against the dreaded disease, adding that it is a thing of joy for the state not to have any recorded case of the virus.
Comr. Daniel said both civilians and the military are all Nigerians, stating that such symbiotic relationship has to be maintained.
In his words: “I am appealing to every Deltan out there that we are not at war with each other, rather we are all brothers and sisters of the same family known as NIGERIA, be it military or civilian.
“It is so unfortunate what transpired today, but this should not lead to break down of law and order because already we have a war ravaging not only our state and country, but the whole world taking lives of hundreds.
“It is important that as a citizen, we adhere to government directive because this instruction is for the good of all. Let us Imagine what would have happen if coronavirous should find it way into our dear state , but thank God for giving us a proactive leader in the person of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa , an astute administrator, who quickly mobilized men and resources to nip in the bud any where this epidemics may wants to roar it head from.
“Now that his Excellency has directed investigation to be carried out on the remote cause of the misunderstanding, l plead with all aggrieved parties to sheath their swords and allow the committee to do their job, while all hands continue to be on the deck against our common enemy , conoranvirous”
