Daniel Ezikiel appeals to NNS DELTA in Warri to flush out pirates in Burutu waterways

Senior Special Assistant, SSA to the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on Security, Comr. Daniel Ezikiel has appealed to Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS DELTA in Warri to flush out pirates terrorizing the Burutu waterways.

Comr. Daniel made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the headquaters of NNS DELTA in Warri on Tuesday 3rd of December 2019 among others that made his entourage.
He particularly expressed worry over the spate of insecurity that has recently engulfed the Ekogbene, Bulou Tebegbe, Ndoro, Ojobo and other settlements that stretches from Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State to Bayelsa State.

Ezikiel stated that his people in the riverine communities are suffering various devastations from the alleged criminal elements that is seemingly taking complete possession of the area with women being raped, molested and steady steeling of ferry speed boats and other valuables.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor lauded the security operations of the NNS and other security operatives for setting up mechanisms to deal with the pirates.

Comr. Daniel stated that his boss, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State is worried over the situation, pleading that restoring peace in the area within this festive period will be deeply appreciated.

However, in his reaction, Commander, The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, appreciated the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on security in Delta for creating time for consulting them, stressing that such feat is rare

, declaring that they will continue to partner with him in ensuring a peaceful and stronger Delta which according to him is inline with the state Governor’s agenda.

Speaking further, Admiral Dewu stated that the Nigerian Navy in collaboration with other security agencies are on top of the situation in Burutu Local Government, admitting that there are actually security threats in the area, adding that his men are dealing with the situation now.

The Commander further reveals that there is already a man hunt for the criminal elements that have recently made the waterways insecure, maintaining that some of the suspects involved in the act has been apprehended by NNS DELTA and has since been handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agency for prosecution.

He said while there is a serious man hunt for the alleged leader of the criminal gang terrorizing the area, there is also a security arrangement to dislodge any criminal camp found in the local government and beyond.

Meanwhile, Admiral Dewu assured Deltans, particularly citizens of the riverine communities that insecurity in the waterways will soon become a thing of the past as they are tracking the leader and others in the criminal gang.
