Dekawei Congratulates 8th IYC National Executive Council, Tasks Them  On Purposeful Leadership

President general of the revered Niger Delta socio cultural group under the aegis of Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement (DIYMPA), Amb. John Dekawei has congratulated newly democratically elected executive members of the 8th National Executive Council of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide on their victories during the Sunday election conducted at Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State. 

President of the Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement (DIYMPA), Amb. John Dekawei  made this known to newsmen in Warri yesterday via a congratulatory message, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

While congratulating the new leadership of IYC Worldwide, Amb. John had tasked the new national officers of the apex Ijaw Youths body on a purposeful leadership that will truly allay the fears of the Ijaw people in the Nigerian State and beyond. 

Dekawei said there is no time as the entire Ijaw nation is in a serious jearpady with people dwelling in the riverine communities suffering all forms of hardship and abandonment both from the government and multinational oil companies in the areas. 

He said the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide must urgently work out modalities to ensure that the appointment of a substantive coordinator of the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme is appointed and also take a stand on the ongoing saga bedeviling the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The revered Niger Delta human rights activist stressed that the IYC must speak up on these issues as they concerns the development of Ijaw nation, noting that keeping quiet on the face of such salient issues will not be a good idea. 

Alaowei John further decried the state of things rocking the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, emphasising that the Ijaw people as major stakeholders in the Niger Delta region who fought with their blood to create the ministry is yet to feel the impact of the Ministry in their areas. 

The statement while congratulating the new national officers had praised high Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo for ensuring that the election was conducted in Gbaramatu Kingdom peacefully without any atom of violence. 

The revered Niger Delta philanthropist  lauded the Barr. Bekewei Ajuwa led 2020 Ijaw Youth Council Electoral Committee for conducting a free, fair and credible election for the entire Ijaw nation, stressing that the entire Ijaw nation  is proud of him for conducting a transparent election. 

To the people of Oporoza community, traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Amb. John  appreciated them for the peaceful hosting of the elective convention, adding that the Ijaw nation will  not forget in a hurry how the community hosted one of the most peaceful election in the history of IYC. 
It would be recalled that Amb. John Dekawei is the chairman cum founder of the John Dekawei Foundation (JDF), a Non Governmental Organisation he has used in transforming the lives of many across the globe.
