By Binebai Princewill President general of a leading Niger Delta socio-cultural group, operating under the auspices of Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement, DIYMPA, Amb. John Dekawei has stated that the Ijaws in Delta State will boycott the 2023 Governorship election in the state if other tribes fail to see reasons to elect an Ijaw man as Governor of the state.  The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

This was contained in a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen in Warri at Bon Hotel, Delta State yesterday after hosting some Ijaw youths.

According to him, the Ijaws in Delta State cannot continue to be father Christmas and sacrificial lambs to others in the state, stressing that enough is enough for the political enslavement of the Ijaw people in Delta State.

The renowned Niger Delta philanthropist, social crusader and advocate of good governance had maintained that the Ijaws have always supported others to produce Governors of the State, adding that it will not be out of place for others to support the Ijaws this time around in 2023 to produce a Governor that will succeed Okowa.

However, the enterprising and resourceful President of Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement, DIYMPA, Amb. John Dekawei had particularly stated that the call for an Ijaw Governor in Delta State come 2023 is a just and fair call that should be supported by all right thinking Deltans.

Dekawei said if Deltans fail to elect an Ijaw man to be Governor of the state come 2023, it means that there would be no meaning for the Ijaws to continue to coexist in the state to contribute economically, socially and politically, noting that the Ijaws are not fools as they deserved to enjoy the support of others too.

Amb. John continued that the Ijaws have capable, competent and experienced hands to preside over the affairs of the state as Governor, stressing that he that has been supporting others to become Governors of the State deserved to be supported to become Governor as well.

In his words: “There should be no fuse about the Ijaw quest to produce the next Governor of the state. Whether by senatorial zoning or ethnic basis, it is the turn of Ijaws to produce the Governor of Delta State.

“The first round of osusu has been completed, this does not mean that it must start from whoever that started the first osusu circle. The Ijaws have both the economic and human power to deserve the Governorship office.

“Enough is enough for the political enslavement of the Ijaws in Delta State, if this is not done, we will no doubt boycott the 2023 Delta State Governorship Election “. Amb. John Dekawei.
