Delta 2019: Okowa Expresses Readiness to Construct More Roads in Riverine Communities

The governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has assured the Ijaw people, particularly in the riverine communities that his administration is still ready to construct more roads in the area.

Governor Okowa gave the assurance in Burutu, headquarters of the Local Government Area yesterday at the Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA football field during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Delta State campaign.

Besides speaking on his readiness to spread more development to the Ijaw riverine communities in Delta State, the governor had also vowed that the contracting firm handling the embattled and controversial Ayakoromo/Ogbe-Ideh bridge will not leave site until the project is completed.

In what appears to be a message of hope to Delta youths, Governor Okowa had stated that after his triumph at the poll, he will increase the appointment of more youths into his administration, stressing that the youths of Delta state have been so hardworking and industrious.

Ekweme had further told the people of Burutu not to worry much as plans are on ground to power the community with 24 hours electricity, obviously gas turbine, adding that the Delta state government in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC; Shell Petroleum Development Commission, SPDC; Chevron and others for quick implementation of the project.

On his part, Sen. James E. Manager, incumbent cum candidate of the PDP for Delta South senatorial district had for the second time begged the governor of Delta state to appoint two commissioners in Burutu Local Government Area as a federal constituency.

However, chairman of the Burutu Local Government PDP campaign council, Elder P. Y Biakpara had assured the governor of Delta state and his deputy that Burutu local government is totally for the PDP and there is no going back about that.

He had particularly stressed that Burutu as a local government had never known any other party than the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, adding that Okowa has done more than enough to return to the government house.

Earlier, the governor had stated that his projects are also very visible in Burutu Local Government Area just like other areas in the state.

In Burutu Local Government, the governor had counted road projects in Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu township road project, its extension, ongoing modern market work in Burutu; Mobilization of the Ayakoromo/Ogbe-Ideh bridge with the host of the projects.
