The Delta Ijaw 2023 Governorship Advocacy Group (DIGAG ) has berated a body operating under the aegis of Ijaw Mandate Group over its recent statement that the quest for an Ijaw Governor come 2023 will not be feasible until 2031.

But the Delta Ijaw 2023 Governorship Advocacy Group (DIGAG ) in a statement personally signed and issued to newsmen in Warri yesterday by the Director General of the group, Amb. Okporu Augustine (JP), a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide have berated the Ijaw Mandate Group on their comment, stressing that the group lacks powers to speak on behalf of Ijaws in Delta State regarding 2023 Governorship, describing them as political jobbers.

The statement reads below:

Press Release

16th November, 2021

DELTA 2023: IJAW GOVERNORSHIP AGENDA IS SACROSANCT; IJAW MANDATE GROUP, A POLITICAL JOBBER

The Ijaws have unanimously taken a position to contest the governorship election in 2023. To concretize our resolution, critical stakeholders in Ijaw nation in Delta State have been lobbying other tribes in the State to support us.

We’re very much resolute to achieve this lofty agenda with the support of Deltans. All the socio-cultural structures in Ijaw nation, especially in Delta State have not only given their nod, they also constituted themselves as lobby group to seek for the support of Deltans.

We make bold to say that the Delta Ijaw Lobby Group led by the well respected Alaowei Broderick Bozimo is carrying the mandate of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC). The Ijaw Mandate Group cannot in anyway speak for the Ijaw nation. We thank God that the INC has come to denounce the Group.

From all indications, members of that self-seeking group might be some floating political jobbers, milling around where to feather their nest. The said Group might be embarking on such political misadventures, possibly to satisfy the fraudulent urge of some political swindlers, who perhaps, have been exiled from even their communities due to their fraudulent clemencies.

Our humble appeal to Deltans, especially the DC 23 Lobby Group is to be wary of these political scavengers, who are being sent as pawns in the political chess game by their sponsors. The argument of which zone should produce the next governor of the State has been dead and buried. The race is open to all contestants in the State.

Signed:

Amb. Okporu Augustine (JP),

D.G Delta Ijaw 2023 Governorship Advocacy Group (DIGAG )
