Delta 2023 Governorship: Western Zone IYC Distance Self From Endorsing Speaker Oborevwori
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone have debunked news circulating on social media platforms that the revered group has endorsed Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, speaker of the Delta state house of assembly ahead of his 2023 Governorship bid.
The leadership of IYC debunked the news of endorsement via a statement signed by the duo of Dr Doubra Collins Okotete, Chairman IYC Western Zone and Omaghomi OluDerimon, Secreatary, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide earlier today.
The Western Zone IYC reiterated that it will continue to stand by its position that Ijaws should produce the next Governor of Delta State come 2023, stressing that there is no going back on it.

We were taken aback late hours of 6th of march 2022, on social media particularly on Facebook were a suspected aid to one of the aspirants from the Uhrobo extraction Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and present speaker of the state house of assembly, ignobly made a post aduccing a mare visit to an endorsement party.
While we condemn the post in its entirety from the over zealous aid, its imperative that we bring to the notice of the general public that IYC is apolitical when it comes to the issue of politics and we barely endores any individual or political party since a vast majority of our members are cut across different political parties as the case maybe.
Therefore the general public should disregard the so called Endorsement as the officer who led the delegation comr Lugard Uzokumor has come out openly via a press release to debunk the endorsement which emanated from one Adumayebe Adums Oghogho on is Facebook page.
As much as we have our members across different party lines, we want to unequivocally state that the quest for Ijaw governor for 2023 is non negociable and sacronsanct and any member of council who dare to do otherwise will be dealt with in line with our modus of operandi because our mandate is to first defend and advocate for the Ijaw interest any day any time.
While we call for calm, the leadership of council will carry out a thorough investigation on the said visit with a view to forestall such incident and protect the integrity of the revered Ijaw youth Council as it were.
