A group operating under the aegis of Delta Ijaw 2023 Governorship Advocacy Group (DIGAG) has corrected the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu over his comment on zoning, stressing that he should listen to his boss, Governor Okowa.

This was contained in a statement circulated and signed by the Director General (DG) of Delta Ijaw 2023 Governorship Advocacy Group (DIGAG), Augustine Okporu (JP), a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

The statement reads in full below:

Press Release

ANIAGWU’S POSITION ON ZONING IS MISCONCEIVED: HE SHOULD LISTEN TO HIS BOSS

The argument of zoning the Governorship office to Senatorial Districts in Delta State is dead and buried. Those who are still canvassing for it lack an indept knowledge of political underlining in the State. As far as Deltans are concerned, this matter is no longer attractive to public attention as Governor Okowa has put a finishing touch on it.

The statement accredited to the Hon. Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu about the non-existent Senatorial District zoning arrangement in the PDP is not only misconceived as he tried to mislead the unsuspecting populace, his position appears like an insubordination to the man who gave him the voice. Perhaps, he was quoted out of context.

Who Charles Aniagwu is speaking for; the Governor who gave him that covetous seat, Deltans he is appointed to serve or those fickle zoning crusaders whose clemency are second to none? Has Charles Aniagwu not been informed that the Senatorial District zoning canvassers whom he is speaking for had serially spoke against the so-called Senatorial District zoning arrangement in previous elections? Has the Commissioner not been told that those who are announcing through the tannoy today, calling for Senatorial District zoning arrangement in the Party were the same people who said there was no zoning in 2007 and 2015 elections?

As an information manager by his position, he would have made Deltans and of course our intelligent Governor proud if he (Aniagwu) gird himself with documented facts about the Delta State PDP since 1999. His misguided outburst was rather too emotional, depicting of a deep rooted political interest in the chess game. The Hon. Commissioner ought to have been economical with his choice of words even if he is free to pitch tent with anybody.

Well, as far as Governor Okowa has used his political sagacity to address the needles argument of zoning, any contrary position from a serving top government functionary remains inconsequential to the divine position of the governor. On this note, we advice Charles Aniagwu to be more friendly to the rigors of his new office than the political development of the State.

Of course, Sen. Okowa has already promised Deltans that the Party leadership will meet at the appropriate time to do what is equitable and fair to the Delta people. We therefore advice the Hon. Commissioner to follow the indelible foot steps of his boss.

Signed:Augustine Okporu JP,DG, Delta Ijaw 2023 Governorship Advocacy Group (DIGAG)
