A group operating under the aegis of Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement (DIYMPA) has stated that well meaning Ijaws in Delta  state will disown any Ijaw political leader in the state who fails to support the Ijaw for Governor 2023 agenda.

This was contained in a statement personally signed and issued to newsmen in Warri yesterday by President general of Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement (DIYMPA), Amb. John Dekawei, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

Amb. John Dekawei is reacting to the recent endorsement of Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for Delta 2023 Governorship by alleged PDP stakeholders in Delta South wherein some Ijaws where heavily present to make comments on the endorsement.

However, the president of DIYMPA had described the act as not only shameful but a betrayal to the progress and development of Ijaw nation, stating that the act is a slavery mentality for any Ijaw political leader to have organized themselves solely to fight against Ijaw quest to become Governor of Delta State come 2023.

Speaking further, Dekawei said gone are those days that people would organise themselves in the name of Ijaw to decide for people, adding that DIYMPA and other good spirited Ijaws will resist any attempt to scuttle Ijaw chances of becoming Governor of the state come 2023 both from within and external.

While lampooning the Ijaw political leaders that endorsed Speaker Sheriff for Delta Governor 2023, Dekawei said he was taken aback to see that while His Excellency, Barr (Dcn), Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sen. James E. Manager, Senator Representing Delta South Senatorial District in the House of Senate and Dr. Braduce Amakazi Angozi have all purchased the Delta Governorship forms,  group of Ijaws are doing somthing else against Ijaw interest, stressing that the right thing to do now as Ijaws is to give them the needed support.

Nevertheless, the Niger Delta Youth Leader cum advocate of good governance, Amb. John stated that people who are openly opposing Ijaw Governorship Agenda come 2023 under any guise do not feat to be accorded any form of respect as supposed leaders.

Meanwhile, the group had charged anyone who is against the Ijaw Governorship Agenda to repent now, adding that come 2023, an Ijaw man must surely become the Governor since they have been assisting others in their bids over the years, adding that Ijaws should not be good at “follow follow alone”, and that it is now time for others to support them.

Dekawei continued that over the years, despite the heavy  economic and political contributions of Ijaws in Delta State over the years, their communities remains the most violated and underdeveloped communities in the state over the years, arguing that an Ijaw man becoming the Governor of Delta State would give room for a more robust development in the hitherto neglected Ijaw areas.

Speaking further, John had appreciated all those standing behind the Ijaw for 2023 Governorship Agenda, describing them as the true heroes/heroines of Ijaw nation in Delta State, adding that posterity is keenly watching everyone.

It would be recalled that Amb. John Dekawei  was among the first group through DIYMPA to have advocated for an Ijaw Chairman in Warri North Local Government council, a situation that have seen an Ijaw man becoming the council chairman today.

Dekawei is also a frontliner in advocating for an Ijaw Governor come 2023, a situation that has seen him spending lots of his personal resources on the Ijaw quest to produce the next Governor of the state.
