Delta: Again Dekawei Foundation Splashes Millions On Foodstuffs To Ogbinbiri, Burutu, Ofougbene communities – The Liberator

As communities heaped praises on Amb. Dekawei

There seem to be jubilation and endless joy among residents in the creeks of Delta State as the John Dekawei Foundation for the second time splashed millions of naira to purchase foodstuffs for distribution to some rural communities in the state.

Amb. John Dekawei, founder and chairman of the Dekawei Foundation who is a peace ambassador particularly distributed the food items to Ogbinbiri community in Egbema Kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area, Ofougbene and Burutu communities in Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State earlier today.

Speaking on what triggered the kind gesture, the young Niger Delta philanthropist noted that the John Dekawei Foundation has been doing such things to people over the years, adding that this is not the first time the foundation is venturing into such assistance, noting that the act was to ameliorate the sufferings of the people in the season of Coronavirus lockdown in the state.

The peace ambassador noted that Deltans were actually suffering as not everyone is financially capable to take care of themselves during the season.

Dekawei said due to the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world, the Foundation met as part of its aims and objectives in touching lives, they resolved to embark on this project as they have done same few days ago in Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, explaining that it is a continuous project as more communities will benefit from the gesture.

When asked on the message he has for other leaders, Dekawei called on other well meaning Niger Delta leaders in the area to assist the people, particularly in this era of lockdown, adding that assisting the people now is very important to the well-being of the people by touching lives.

On the choice of Ogbinbiri in Egbema Kingdom and Ofougbene and Burutu communities in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, he said the John Dekawei Foundation has no boundary as communities in the region and beyond are just one big family as there is no big deal as to whatever community that benefits from the gesture.

While reacting to the extension of the 14 days lockdown in the state, Dekawei said he is not really a fan to politicians and their actions.

He noted that before the extension, government ought to have reached out to Deltans to cushion the effects that comes with the extension, stressing that the act remains condemned and unacceptable as Deltans are vulnerable to hunger and other issues that comes with it.

Appreciating the John Dekawei Foundation for the kind gesture, Hon. Joel Bisina, national chairman of Ogbinbiri federated communities in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State expressed deep appreciation to the foundation for considering Ogbinbiri community.

While commending Dekawei, Bisina, the national chairman of Ogbinbiri noted that Amb. John Dekawei story is a Niger Delta story, stressing that, this is not the first time the young philanthropist is doing things for the community.

Speaking further, he said the food items will go a long way in cushioning the effect of the lockdown, stressing that the gesture is so significant as the intention behind it is noble and commendable, maintaining that it only takes a man with good heart to venture into such humanitarian activity.

When asked if any other NGO have visited Ogbinbiri to distribute food items during this season, the national chairman said before the Dekawei Foundation, it was the Tompolo Foundation that had done something of such.

He however, reiterated that he has known Dekawei for long and that people of Ogbinbiri appreciates the kind gesture as they prayed for his expansion in whatever he sets out to achieve in life.

In her reaction, Hon. Bisina Florence, councillor representing Ogbinbiri ward 17 in Warri North Local Government Area also lauded the Amb. Dekawei Foundation for the gesture, describing it as a superlative move.

She explained that the food items will go a long way in cushioning the effect of the the lockdown on the people, stating that there are other rich people that could not even dare to venture into such humanitarian activity for the needy.

The duo was flanked by other members of Egbema Kingdom during the presentation of the food items.

The Burutu, Ofougbene Story in Burutu Local Government Area

Meanwhile, the journey continued and landed in Burutu community, headquater of the Local Government where delegation from Ofougbene community had already made their way to the community.

Representing chairman of the Dekawei Foundation, Mr. Ajosibe Bebenimibo, media/director of programmes in the foundation had briefed members of the two historic communities about the kind gesture from Amb. Dekawei.

He explained that the foundation was highly disturbed by the sufferings of Deltans in the midst of the lockdown in the state, adding that it is the foundation’s way of reaching out to the people in the creeks of Delta.

However, it would be recalled that while Comr. Pondy Ebipadewei, chairman of Burutu community received the items on behalf of members of the community, Comr. Dennis Giyale, vice chairman of Ofougbene community led the delegation to receive the food items on behalf of the community.

Speaking in similar tunes, the duo of Pondy and Giyale had appreciated the Amb. Dekawei Foundation for remembering them with foodstuffs in such a time where life is increasingly becoming difficult with people and countries around the world suffering.

They particularly described Amb. Dekawei as a man that will go far in life, stressing that God shall continue to bless and prosper him beyond human imagination, adding that the Lord Almighty will guard and protect him.

They noted that the people of Burutu and Ofougbene in Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State will continue to owe John Dekawei Foundation in high esteem and members of his crew.

It would be recalled that the food items presented to the communities include bags of rice, bags of garri, cartons of indomie nodles, kegs of groundnut oil as well as bags of salts
