A renowned philanthropist  in oil rich Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Collins Kemeyan (JP), the Posibenemowei of Ogulagha Kingdom has decried the non deployment of Youth Corpers to Ijaw riverine communities in Delta state.

Chief Collins Kemeyan made the revelation yesteday via a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen in Warri, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

The revered Ogulagha Kingdom Chief had called on the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, other stakeholders in the Delta State educational sector as well as authorities in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Delta to correct the age long anomaly, describing the situation as a grave injustice against his people.

Speaking further on the matter, Chief Collins had wondered on why the Ijaw people would be shortchanged in this manner while Ijaw sons and daughters who are Corpers are posted to Northern states, Western states and all part of the country without complaints, adding that some of those places are not as safe as the riverine areas.

“If our children can be posted to crises riddled areas where they have Boko Haram, Herdsmen, Bandits, kidnapping and what have you in the North, why can’t our peaceful  area enjoy deployment of Corpers “. Chief Kemeyan stated.

However, the Chief stated that the Delta State Government and those in the NYSC office in Asaba cannot claim to be ignorant that they are not posting Youth Corpers to Riverine Communities in Delta, particularly to the Ijaw areas, stressing that such scenario is unacceptable.

He continued that the Ijaw people in the riverine areas needs education and youth corpers more than others, adding that it is an evil that needs to be corrected urgently.

“As a Justice of Peace, no matter what, my duty is to preach peace, but it is so sad to watch how the Government has been manipulating my people and everyone seem to keep quiet in the face of such glaring injustice. We cannot claim to be one when our people have been surreptitiously been manipulated and denied from having any benefit from things that are clearly their rights.”

Meanwhile, the Chief had called on well meaning sons and daughters of Ijaw nation to critically look into his call and make case out of it in ensuring that justice is done along this regard.

He continued that Youth Corpers have critical role to play in the educational foundation of students in both primary, secondary and what have you.
