Delta Ijaw Comrades Meets, Debate On Proposed Constitution, To Meet Soon For Adoption

It was indeed a gathering of comrades with varying display of intellects among the activists as the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC) met yesterday in Warri, Delta State to deliberate on the draft proposed constitution of the community. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

In his brief remark during the meeting, President general of the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC), Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill had appreciated all the comrades that made it to the meeting despite their tight schedules, promising that DICC will always come out big, stronger and better. 

However, Comr. John Gbozimor, alias JP, chairman of the Constitution drafting committee was mandated to read the proposed draft constitution of a the DICC, word for word, paragraph to paragraph as well as page by page. 

After much debates on certain clauses, sections, sub sections, schedules and articles, the meeting agreed on certain areas that needed to be corrected before the next general meeting of the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community for adoption. 

Meanwhile, on his part, High Chief Wellington Bobo, the Iroupawei of Gbaramatu Kingdom who is the patron of the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community had lauded members and the leadersdhip of DICC for the proposed draft constitution, the deliberations and the conducts of members during the meeting. 

Speaking further, he had assured the DICC that he will continue to stand by them, stressing that the body must continue to remain apolitical while fighting for a better Ijaw nation in Delta State and beyond. 

Other issues briefly touched include the opening of DICC bank account after the adoption of the proposed constitution, DICC end of year party as well as contributing towards the wellbeing of the Ijaws in Delta State and beyond. 

The meeting was graced by Delta Ijaw comrades from Asaba, Lagos, Ughelli, Warri, Sapele and others from communties constituting Ijaw Kingdoms in Delta State reflecting the local government areas. 

The meeting was held at the DICC patron’s place in Warri, Delta State.
